After the latest mass shooting in America, Ted and Rosemary Johnson finished watching the news and rolled straight into RBT, with thoughts of the latest round of gun violence fresh in their minds.
“I just don’t understand why America doesn’t pass a law banning guns?” said Rosemary, as a 47-year-old man from Lane Cove gets done for his fourth drink driving conviction on the tele. “If it’s a law, people have to obey.”
Nodding along, Ted is half-listening and half-watching a 33-year-old single mother from Brisbane get done high range drinking driving with two kids in the car. “I know, right. It’s crazy. Pass a law like we did. Everyone obeys the law,” says Ted, as the narrator points out this is the mother’s seventh conviction and could be looking at a fine well in excess of $200.
As the show progresses, and more and more people get caught breaking the law, the couple are still gobsmacked at how stupid Americans are for not passing legislation to prevent more gun violence. As the discussion continues into the night, Ted asks Rosemary if she would like to watch Highway Patrol after RBT, to continue watching people break laws while they discuss the downright stupidity of American’s not passing gun laws.
