Thursday night was a sad affair for Broncos fans across Queensland after the Roosters put on a clinic with a 36-4 loss at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Although coach Anthony Seibold was disappointed, another saw opportunity in their poor form – Titan’s coach, Garth Brennan.
“Not just anyone can make the Titan’s team. It takes a certain combination of dropping the ball 5m from the try line, missing tackles, and making 2m on every set of six, and I saw a lot to be impressed with on Thursday night,” said Garth Brennan.
When asked by a channel nine reporter to elaborate, Garth was only too happy to name players he’d love to see in the Titan’s line up this year.
“Geez, where to begin. The halves looked lost and lacked direction – bam, they’re in. Tevita Pangai Jr is a certain to start, he really shone as a future Titan. He went missing, hasn’t been getting tries, he even did a late hit too – this kid’s the full package!” said an excited Garth. “And Darius Boyd can teach us all to miss tackles on our own try line – your jersey is waiting, son.”
As enthused as Garth was, he couldn’t help speculate that someone in the Bronco’s camp had actually gotten their hands on some of their playbooks.
“43% of possession and 54 missed tackles – come on, tell me that isn’t straight out of our current run?”
Speculation aside, after such a poor showing the only way is up for the Bronco’s. Otherwise, if they keep getting smashed 36-4, it might be time to think about moving to the Gold Coast.
“Give us a call, boys. I’m by the phone waiting,” said an eager Garth.
