“Here we fucken go again!” said every Blues supporter over the last decade.
Despite being tipped as favourites, and claiming that the Queensland side no longer was a threat without their great players, NSW went right ahead and lost anyway. The brief glimmer of hope they gave Blues supporters after winning last year seems to have disappeared faster than a XXXX at breakfast today.
Staring down the barrel of year another loss, Blues fans in NSW might have it rough with one or two cane toads at work, but the players and coach really need to spare a thought for the cockroaches who live in Qld and never hear the end of potentially losing yet another series. One such fan is Barry Goldwater (45), who arrived at work today in Calliope to face a non-stop barrage from his co-workers.
“Yeah my desk was totally covered in Qld flags, I’ve been given three boxes of tissues, and then at break time my car was covered in Qld stickers. It’s non-stop,” said Barry.
Now needing to win both games to retain the shield, NSW should no longer be the favourites. And let’s be honest, until they win four series in a row and win back the trust of their long suffering fans who are copping shit at work – they should never be favourites again.
