Shopping trolleys to now feature fold out seat for husbands to sit on as wives stop to chat with friends.

Woolworths, the fresh food people, can now add a new title to their name with the latest edition to their shopping trolleys – husband seats. Affixed to the front of every trolley starting next month is a sturdy foldout chair that allows men to sit on while their wives bump into a friend and begin an extended chat. The brains behind the idea, Lotta Shelfspace (31), was happy to talk to us about the revolutionary new trolley.

“This is going to change shopping as we know it. Often husbands stand around bored while their wives and girlfriends catch up mid-aisle, well no more with my new design,” said Lotta. “Blokes now have a place to rest and relax, which will hopefully make them more willing to help out with the weekly shopping.”

As amazing as Lotta’s idea is, she has big plans on expansion. “I’m thinking cup holders, waiters who come around and refill your drink. I’ve even suggested putting a small rectangular pond in the middle of an aisle so blokes can sit and fish while the ladies catch up.”

Not everyone is pleased with the idea, with wives groups complaining that the chair will result in women having to push their husbands around like giant babies – as opposed to dragging them around by the arm like giant babies.

Time will tell.
