Couple move from country to city and fulfil lifelong dream of owning a 4WD.

Chase and Mary Bumpkin (31) have recently moved from the outskirts of Dubbo to Sydney and have fulfilled a lifelong dream – owning a 4WD.

“Well, Mary and I grew up in the country, so it was always our dream to move to a congested, traffic-filled big city and buy the largest and most impractical vehicle we could find”, said Chase proudly.

“I’m so excited”, said Mary. “Finally, we can barely fit into a lane, sometimes not fit under low shopping center roofs and, best of all, not fit into most parking spaces down the shops.”

Happy to be $40,000 in debt with no job between them, the couple proudly drive their 4WD through narrow streets almost scraping cars and street signs before needing to do a seven-point turn to make it around a tight corner.

“Look how small the other cars are”, said Chase beaming with pride. “I’m still not quite used to tail-gaiting every car like all 4WDers do, but I’m sure I’ll get there.”

Super excited, the pair have even signed up to their local 4WD club.

“It’s great. They teach us important 4WD skills like which are the most powerful lights to attach to the front which blind people on their lowest setting, and what to say when people ask why you need such a big vehicle. ““To put the shopping in””, recite the couple happily.

For now, the pair are just chuffed to drive around showing their vehicle off.

“Who knows, maybe one day we might actually do some actual four-wheel driving”, says Mary.

“Don’t be silly”, chides Chase.
