Mundine proves he can still do what he did 10 years ago – get knocked out.

Anthony Mundine said farewell to his old friend the canvas last night as he got starched by Michael Zerafa in just over two minutes. While the rest of the country had a good old chuckle, the press has taken a strange stance claiming this fight should never of happened; had it not of, the Australian public would have been deprived of one of its favourite pastimes – seeing Mundine get knocked out.

When Mundine proclaimed himself ‘The Man’ in 2000 to the annoyance of 99.9% of Australia, fans didn’t have to wait long for his first knock out a year later. He then went nine years before face planting once more and that’s when his trips to the floor started picking up pace, with KOs in 2015, 2018 and now 2021. Good times.

Mundine has declared that last night was his last fight, and a National Day of Mouring has been considered now that we won’t get to see him block any more punches with his face. If this truly is the end thanks for those five great memories, Anthony. Know that if ever you feel like making another comeback, this country stands behind you becoming horizontal once more.
